1. What are the louvers made from?
The Eclipse louvers are manufactured from an aluminium alloy extrusion and are either anodised or powder coated for longevity and appearance. The louvers have a nominal thickness of 1.8mm, which is over 4 times thicker than normal ‘Colorbond’ roof sheeting.
2. What materials are used?
Standard installations are constructed with a frame around the whole perimeter. The frame may be any material that provides sufficient structural integrity – steel, aluminium, timber or concrete. A typical frame consists of 208 x 65mm Colorbond framing.
Typically an internal Colorbond box gutter is installed around the inside of the frame to channel water to a downpipe.
3. How many ‘bays’ are required?
It depends on the total patio cover roof size. A single maximum bay size is 24 square meters & 7500mm in width.
Large roof areas are accommodated with ease by creating multiple banks. The areas can be divided into the desired portions, and then controlled from a central place via a single wall mounted switch plate touchpad control.
4. Are you able to have an angled side?
Yes
Generally any custom angle can be provided for to a single side of a bay. This will enable you to follow your garden bed, retaining wall or provide a unique contrast for your outdoor living area.
5. Can you combine the louvers with other roofing products?
Yes
The louvers can be tailor made to be incorporated with other fixed roofing styles.
6. What is your guarantee?
All constructions are provided with a ten year structural guarantee and two year warranty on all electrical.
7. Which is the best direction for the louvers to run?
To have the best control over ‘mother nature’ and the sunshine, the louvers should run in a north/south direction. This will enable you to follow or block the sun more effectively, thus creating a more confortable outdoor living area, individually tailored for you.
8. What about ongoing maintenance & service?
We are only a phone call away…..
Upon completion you are provided with a detailed maintenance guide which, when followed, will ensure that you’re outdoor living area remains looking as great as it does once completed and sees you enjoying the area for many years to come.
9. Are the louvers waterproof?
Yes
Once the louvers shut, they lock into each other and create a water barrier, preventing water dripping between the louvers.
10. What colours are available?
We have a wide variety of colours for you to choose from and match in with your home.
There are seven standard frame colours and twenty available colours for the louvers – that’s the whole Colorbond range!
If you can’t find your available colour, you can select from the Dulux Powder Coating Colour range for a small surcharge.
11. Is a remote control available?
Yes
You have the option to either have the remote control by itself or utilise it with the wall mounted switch plate.
12. Do I need to organise my own electrician?
No
We include all necessary electrical within our description of works as standard as completed by an licenced electrician.
13. How do you operate the louvers?
A ‘switch plate’ the size of your standard home light switch is fixed to your wall, generally next to your current light switch in a location where you can see the louvers.
The switch plate enables you to operate each bay of louvers together or independently, along with standard functions including the rain sensor.
A remote control option is also available.
A transformer is hard wired by our licensed electrician into your homes power supply. This in turn operates a ‘Weather Control Unit’ which is housed either within your eave line or externally on the wall in a weather proof box.
This powers a stainless steel, 12 volt motor to each bay.
14. Is a weather sensor standard?
Yes
This gives you the peace of mind to leave the louvers open, knowing that if the weather does turn for the worse that the louvers will automatically close.
15. Can you manually operate the blades?
No
The ‘Eclipse’ louvered patio cover system can only be operated via remote control or the electronic switch plate.
